Passive House

Lichen Studio worked with Studio BE Architecture to develop a strategy for a new-build Passivhaus, integrated into the landscape of Stroud, Gloucestershire.

The objective is to create a healthy & low-energy family home which sits harmoniously on the site with minimal impact on planetary & human health. Using the principles of Biophilic design we developed a multi-functional garden design suitable for a growing family, who wish to have nature on their doorstep.

We adopted a permaculture approach which celebrates the existing site assets, while creating a place for nature and for people. Using the themes of water, biodiversity, amenity, play and production, the garden design has been developed using organic geometries to provide a variety of garden rooms.
